What happens if Cricket World Cup final is rained off and does England vs New Zealand have a reserve day? – The Sun

ENGLAND and New Zealand face off at Lords with both sides looking to put their name on the Cricket World Cup trophy for the first time.

The Black Caps stunned India in the semi-final, while England crushed old rivals Australia.

What happens if the Cricket World Cup final is rained off?

If play is rained off on Sunday, then a reserve day is scheduled for Monday.

But if the match is rained off for two days straight then ENGLAND will lift the Cricket World Cup by virtue of finishing higher in the round-robin stage.

If both sides complete 20 overs then that will be considered enough to constitute a game and the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method will decide the winner.

Interestingly, should only the team batting first complete their innings today, a full 50-over second innings will take place tomorrow.

But if the team batting second begins its innings then they will play just 20 overs.
