What is Brassic about?

Express.co.uk heard from a number of the Brassic cast and the show’s London premiere prior to its Sky One debut.

Gilgun opened up about how the series came about. telling the media: “I’m talking a lot with Dominic West, I’m hanging out with him, we’re a bizarre pair up me and him but we do seem to get on for some reason.

“We have a bit of a chat and I start telling him about these stories and he just said this is pointless, you can’t just be telling yarns like this on a f****** balcony, he said I need to introduce you to David Livingstone.

“He said we kind of need something on paper, these stories are fantastic but we do need something on page so what I did is I pulled all of my lawn furniture, I was living in a council house at the time, I pulled all the lawn furniture out and we just started writing what was about to be a hybrid book.

“I mean what we gave David was just a f****** nightmare really it was like one of them books like that, just wedged with b******* and I remember him saying we can’t do anything with this but then I found this f***** here (Daniel Brocklehurst) and he immediately got it.”

The series follows Vinnie (Gilgun) and his close-knit group of friends who hustle and steal in order to get by.

Brassic sees the gang steal everything from cars to Shetland ponies.

However, Vinnie’s close friend Dylan (Damien Molony) is stuck in a dilemma between his best pal and girlfriend Erin (Keegan).

Erin’s desperate to leave town and for Dylan to turn his back on his petty crime ways.

Dylan, however, fears what impact this could have on Vinnie.

Brassic starts on Sky One on Thursday, August 22 at 10pm.
