What is wrong with David Metcalfe in Emmerdale?

Emmerdale’s David Metcalfe is set to receive some important blood tests back in tonight’s episode, arousing fear his cancer may have returned.

David was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2016 which was discovered when he started having difficulties urinating.

He was initially reluctant to go through with treatment until his dad, Eric Pollard, helped persuade him.

The character was given the all-clear four months later, much to the joy of the villagers as well as fans at home.

It’s not been an easy time for David who is currently also trying to patch a fractured relationship with his son, Jacob.

16-year-old Jacob was groomed by David’s girlfriend Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) who tried to go on the run with the vulnerable teenager.

Luckily the relationship was halted and Maya was found guilty of her crimes and subsequently jailed.

The teenager resents his parents and blames them for Maya’s imprisonment as he doesn’t see anything wrong with the relationship.

However, it looks like a silver lining of David’s health scare may be that it brings the family back together again, as Jacob is going to turn up to support him.

Could this indicate their relationship will get back on track?
