Luckily, the snake was not venomous. ‘No stitches, thankfully, but they cleaned me up pretty good,’ Heywood said

‘I got bit by a snake. Didn’t know what kind it was,’ he said.

He said he thought to himself: ‘Have to get to the hospital.’

Luckily, the snake was not venomous.

‘No stitches, thankfully, but they cleaned me up pretty good,’ Heywood said.

‘I am on antibiotics.’

The snake, however, met a violent end.

A neighbor who heard Heywood’s scream during the attack ran over with a hammer and bludgeoned the snake to pieces.

Copeland said he believed that the snake, which measured some 5ft5in, slithered into the porch light to take shelter from the heavy rains which hit the area in recent days.
