Alan Sugar has revealed his unlikely involvement in Rita Simons’ shock exit from I’m A Celebrity last night.
The former EastEnders actress became the fourth star to be kicked out of the jungle after losing the latest public vote.
As Rita made her exit, many viewers took to Twitter to comment on the fact that Apprentice business mogul Alan is Rita’s uncle.
Even Rita’s official account got involved tweeting: "Hands up if you was this many years old when you found out Rita was the niece of Lord Alan Sugar #TeamRita #I’mACeleb."
Alan then replied: "That is maybe why the public voted her out. It might be my fault."
Viewers have become sceptical about Rita’s exit after it was revealed she’s soon to be starring in a Christmas pantomime.
The soap star is due to star in Bournemouth’s pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty, which starts on Saturday.
I’m A Celebrity 2018
Rita became the fourth campmate to be voted out of the jungle on Tuesday’s show, although she’s likely to remain in Australia until the final on Sunday.
Although the panto production starts on Saturday, the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre’s website clearly states that Jennifer Ellison will be standing in for Rita as the wicked fairy Carabosse on opening night until 12 December.
With the final taking place on what will be Monday local time in Australia, Rita will have two days to fly back to the UK and recover from her jetlag in time to tread the boards next Thursday.
Following her exit, many viewers took to Twitter commenting on the ‘coincidence’ that the actress was voted out early.
One fan wrote: "Rita’s in panto this year that opens on Saturday… coincidence she gets voted off tonight."
Another tweeted: "Hmm, interesting. Rita out of I’m A Celeb and starring in a pre booked panto on Saturday."
Bournemouth locals had been questioning Rita’s panto and I’m A Celebrity schedule since the ITV series kicked off last month.
When Rita was unveiled as a I’m A Celeb castmate last month, many confused Bournemouth residents took to Twitter.
One wrote: "Hang on, Rita Simons is in the Bournemouth panto this year."
Another tweeted: "I’m sure Rita Simons and John Barrowman are meant to be in panto too. But eating kangaroo c**k is where the money is I guess."
Rita isn’t the only IAC contestant starring in panto this year. The Chase star Anne Hegerty will be starring in Dick Whittington at the Theatre Royal Windosr from 18 December.
