Coronation Street star Alex Bain has become a father at the age of 17.
The actor, who plays Simon Barlow in the ITV soap, has welcomed a baby daughter with girlfriend Levi Selby.
The couple, who sat their GCSEs earlier this year, have named their baby girl Lydia-Rose Bain.
A source told The Sun : "They are absolutely over the moon — it’s the greatest gift they could have hoped for this Christmas."
The pair started dating in April last year and news of the baby spread after Alex told friends at his school in Lancashire.
It had been reported in July that they split but Alex denied the break up and Levi, also 17, posted a picture of her 12-week baby scan on Facebook.
The news they were expecting broke in May, when Alex and his girlfriend were still 16.
Levi announced the news on her Facebook page by sharing a picture of her 12-week scan.
She captioned it "December 8", seemingly revealing the due date of their child.
Her mum, Judith Calvert, excitedly shared the baby scan on her own Facebook page, telling her friends "Call me Granny Walton".
Alex has been part of the Coronation Street cast for 10 years, and won Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2011 for his portrayal of Peter Barlow’s son and Ken Barlow’s grandson.
Levi’s friends commented on her post to tell her how excited they were to meet her baby.
One said: "OMG so excited can’t wait"
"Omg congratulations Levi, you’ll be amazing," another commented.
And another said: "Cannot wait, you’re gonna be perfect parents!!"
Levi’s Facebook page also features a string of loved-up snaps of herself and her boyfriend.
Mirror Online has contacted Coronation Street for comment.
