Dermot O'Leary is a doting new dad as he leaves hospital with wife

Dermot O’Leary and his wife Dee Koppang looked ready to tackle first-time parenthood as they left the hospital after welcoming their son.

The TV presenter was picking up his wife after she gave birth to baby Koppang-O’Leary on Tuesday 23 June.

The doting first-time dad was in good spirits as he carried a car seat for the little one while being aided by an assistant.

He was sporting a casual look of a grey shirt and blue jeans as he hopped into the car along with his wife.

This is the first child for Dermot and Dee, who tied the knot in 2012.

Director and producer Dee, 41, can be seen beaming in the back seat while wearing sunglasses.

Their trip back home comes after Dermot, 47, took to Instagram to confirm the exciting news.

He shared a picture of a teeny baby-gro reading: ‘Koppang O’Leary Productions est 2020.’

The star wrote: ‘Welcome to the world baby Koppang O’Leary… We’re delighted to announce that we’ve had a baby! A little boy born on Tuesday 23rd June 2020 (Sankthansaften / Midsummer for you Norwegians) at 8.19am, weighing in at 6lb 13oz.

‘Enjoying the cuddles in the newborn bubble… cats yet to be 100% convinced. Lots of love, Dermot & Dee.’

It appears that baby O’Leary arrived just a day after producer and director Dee had her Summer Solstice themed baby shower over Zoom, with friends including Dawn O’Porter and Chris O’Dowd.

That’s one punctual baby.

Dermot had previously joked about their baby’s timing, saying on The One Show: ‘We’re expecting end of June, early July… the perfect time to bring a child into this world!’
