Is Ariana Grande’s cryptic Instagram quote about Pete Davidson?

Could Ariana Grande be shedding some light on her breakup with Pete Davidson?

The “7 Rings” singer, 25, took some time from her “Sweetener” tour to post an intriguing quote on her Instagram story on Thursday.

Titled “Letting Someone Go,” the quote reads in part:

“Sometimes, the reason for letting someone go is because they can’t help but hurt you during this phase of their life. When you love someone deeply, you learn what demons live within them and you realize they are hurting you because they are hurting somewhere within themselves. They are fighting a battle within and may not even know it, so they take it out on you and fight you.”

The passage, originally written by Horacio Jones, continues:

“Decide to let them go, but not because you’re being petty and resentful. You let them go because you really believe that the both of you can find the healing you truly need without being together and hurting each other in the process.”

While the post does not name a specific person, many fans believe it was directed at ex-fiancée Davidson, who Grande split from in October 2018. The post comes just days after she debuted her new tattoo, a leaf outline on her ribcage, on Instagram, captioned, “not a cover up just evolvin.”

The new ink is located over another tattoo that she got during her relationship with the Davidson.

The 25-year-old “SNL” star has been very open about his mental health issues, before and after the couple’s relationship. Davidson is currently tied to actress Kate Beckinsale, just five months after his breakup with Grande.

Others contend that the quote is about late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who died of an accidental overdose in September. Grande paid tribute to the rapper during the opening night of her “Sweetener” tour in Albany, playing his music before the start of the show.
