Katy Perry wants everybody who can to cast their vote in the US presidential election and she’s pulling out all the stops to get the message across.
The singer, 36, who welcomed her first child – daughter Daisy – with fiancé Orlando Bloom, 43, in August, decided to turn herself into a huge ‘I Voted’ sticker and campaign from the side of the road.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, a day before the election is due to take place on November 3, Katy was seen leading the stars as she rallied up other voters.
She wore a giant ‘I Voted’ sticker cut out on her head and made sure to stay safe with a face mask covering her nose and mouth. Katy, wearing a knitted dress and sandals, gestured to cars to vote and encouraged them to honk at her as they drove past.
Her efforts were all part of her plan to get others to vote and they went down well with passers-by, with some leaning out of their cars to fist pump along with the Roar hit-maker and one driver commenting: ‘That’s hysterical.’
Alongside her funny, but important, video, Katy shared the lyrics from her track Not The End Of The World: ‘🎶 It’s not the end of the world. No, not the end of the world. Throw on your fancy attire, fears in the fire. Don’t lose hope 🎶.’
She told fans: ‘TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY! 🗳 Tell your mom, tell your dad, tell complete strangers on the street to #VOTENOW #BRINGAFRIEND #BRINGASNACK #TAKEYOURBIKE 🇺🇸 #buthonkifyoualreadyvoted.’
Katy has already played her part and voted by turning in her ballot at one of LA’s designated drop-boxes ahead of Donald Trump and Joe Biden going head-to-head in the 2020 election on Tuesday.
Shee isn’t the only star who has already voted and wants to make sure others do the same, as a whole host of celebrities have been campaigning for everyone who can to make sure they have a say this election.
Hailey Baldwin was seen calling out to fans ‘get out there and vote’. She said: ‘TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY!!! If you didn’t get a chance to vote early tomorrow is the day! Please get out there, and stay safe!!’
Beyoncé made it clear she was voting for Joe Biden and his vice president Kamala Harris, as did John Legend and Friends star Jennifer Aniston who was seen casting her vote last week and actively encouraging her social media followers not to vote for Kanye because they think ‘it’s funny’.
Kanye is on the ballot thanks to his presidential election campaign, despite polling at just 2%.
Lady Gaga, meanwhile, stopped by a drive-in presidential rally at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh to show her support for Biden during his final day of campaigning.
She was seen hugging the presidential candidate and gave a speech campaigning on his behalf, before performing on stage.
Gaga, while wearing a Biden/Harris badge, told fans via Instagram: Good morning PENNSYLVANIA! I’m so excited to see you today and SING for you!!!!!!! I believe in 🎶 YOU & I!!!! Let’s talk about what America looks like with a KINDER President. WE NEED EVERY VOTE❤️ I’m with @JoeBiden —Lets go 24 hrs!!!!! PUSH!!!!!’
Her appearance came as rapper 2 Chainz did the same during a drive-in rally supporting Biden in a parking lot in Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia, where former US president Barack Obama was set to speak.
Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Bella Hadid and Demi Lovato have also made it pretty clear they’re Team Biden, while Kirstie Alley, Kid Rock and Stacey Dash, meanwhile, are among the stars voting for current president Trump to be re-elected.
Lizzo made sure to make a statement as she voted, proudly wearing a US inspired bralet as she cast her vote for the third time.
‘I VOTED. This is my 3rd time voting in my whole life. When you think about how few and far in between that is it really puts things into perspective! I believe this is the beginning of making voting ACCESSIBLE and FAIR so that this country reflects its people. To all my activists, thank you for your constant organizing & service. Let’s get our vote in so we can get back to the good fight for true liberty and justice for ALL. Have YOU voted yet?,’ she said.
Julia Roberts, meanwhile, wore a t-shirt that proudly stated ‘I am a voter’, as she followed suit and rallied up her followers.
‘I AM a Voter,’ she told fans. ‘Make sure you are too! 💙 #weareinthistogether #getyourjush #whenweallvote.’
Gigi Hadid, Mariah Carey, former Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev and Selena Gomez have been actively campaigning for their fans to hit the polls, with Selena, who voted via mail, joining Timothée Chalamet live on Instagram as he headed down to vote in New York.
Rounding up voters was even the perfect excuse for Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith to step back into their fan favourite characters Jay and Silent Bob, after starring in the comedy’s reboot last year, as they created a YouTube video urging people to get to the polls.
‘We know you hate when famous people tell you who to vote for, well, we’re not famous, we’re fictional,’ they told fans. ‘Don’t be a fictional character, use your voice to vote.’
Ahead of the US election results being revealed on Tuesday, both Biden and Trump have been rounding up their presidential campaigns across the country.
According to reports, almost 99million people in the US have already cast their ballots in the 2020 election, with it set to be the highest turnout in the US for a century.
