EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, 19, was unveiled as the latest contestant to sign up to this year’s Strictly Come Dancing on This Morning today. During her chat with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, she revealed she has had dance lessons in the past as she was quizzed about her previous win on the show.

While some may see her admission as an advantage, Maisie revealed she knows how to street dance, which is a world away from the Ballroom and Latin routines on the show.

The actress showcased her talents on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor on the show’s Children In Need special last year.

After an impressive performance of the Cha Cha Cha, she lifted the Glitterball trophy with ex Strictly pro Kevin Clifton.

Despite her win, Maisie said she believes her victory was “an absolute fluke”.

She added: “I’m not going to lie, I’ve got dancing experience.

“I’ve done a bit of hip-hop and street dance throughout my time but I have no technical ability at all.”

The actress went on to say she thinks she could be the “dark horse” of the series.

Maisie has signed up for the show alongside the likes of The Wanted’s Max George, Olympian Nicola Adams, actress Caroline Quentin and comedian Bill Bailey.

On This Morning today, Jamie Laing was also revealed as a contestant on the show.

It comes after he pulled out ahead of the live shows last year after sustaining an injury during rehearsals.

The Made In Chelsea star was replaced by Kelvin Fletcher, who went on to win the show with Oti Mabuse.

Former Strictly dancer Kevin reacted to his ex dance partner Maisie signing up for the show on Twitter today.
