Sarah Hyland Reveals 14-Year-Old Cousin Was Killed By Alleged Drunk Driver

Sarah Hyland is devastated. This Sunday night, the Modern Family actress took to Instagram to share some heartbreaking news about her family: her teenage cousin was killed by an alleged drunk driver, and her uncle remains hospitalized for his injuries.

Posting a touching photo of her late relative, Hyland, 28, gave more details about the horrific incident, also providing a link to his GoFundMe page.

“This is my 14 year old cousin Trevor. Yesterday, he was killed by a drunk driver. My uncle is still in the hospital in need of more surgeries. PLEASE swipe up to help,” wrote the star.

Hyland also named the suspect, though incorrectly identified him as “Jeffery Eggerling.” According to reports, Mr. Eggeling, 36, was arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene.

HE “took a 14 year old boy’s life,” she wrote along with a photo of her happy cousin adding that the man allegedly “hit my Uncle’s Car so fast my cousin (who was wearing a seatbelt) was ejected from the car.”

She claimed that he “tried to RUN from the scene of the crime” after he realized what he’d done.

“I hope to God he spends the rest of his life in prison,” admitted Hyland.

Shocked by the horrible incident, Sarah Hyland’s Modern Family costars, Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould also shared the news and GoFundMe link on their Instagram stories — a thought which the star greatly appreciated.

“Love you” she wrote to Winter, 20. “Thank you,” she wrote to Gould, 20.

As RadarOnline.com readers know, the actress’ family tragedy came while she was enjoying a romantic Mexican vacation with Bachelor boyfriend Wells Adams. The two still seem to be relaxing in the tropical paradise amid the brunette beauty’s heartbreak.
