Westlife’s Shane Filan heartbreakingly announces his father Peter has died ten months after mother’s death

Westlife star Shane Filan has heartbreakingly revealed his father Peter has passed away ten months after his mother Mae’s death.

Uptown Girl singer Shane, 41, announced the heartbreaking news as he shared a statement on his social media feeds.

It read: “Yesterday Sunday the 4th of October my heart was broken.

“I lost the most important man in my entire life, my Dad Peter.

“He was my best friend , my guidance through life and an absolutely amazing father.”

Shane continued: “He was my Hero He died peacefully in his sleep in the amazing care of the medical team of St Vincent’s hospital, Hawthorn ward & my brother Peter. [sic]

“I can’t thank the staff of St Vincent’s hospital enough,for the incredible care they all gave him over this last year I’d also like to say thank you to all the westlife fans & friends around the world for all your lovely kind messages at the very sad time. [sic]

“His funeral will be private to family due to all the current restrictions & safety for everyone”.

Shane ended the statement with: “For those who would like to do something in his memory you can make a small donation to cancer trials.ie for other families in the future

“He was one of king & will now be reunited with the love of his life of 55 years my mum Mae Together forever Thank you Love always Shane & Family”.

Shane’s father is survived by his seven children Finbarr, Peter, Yvonne, Liam, Denise, Máiréad and Shane.

It comes after Shane’s mother Mae passed away in December.

He shared the news as he wrote a statement on his social media feeds.

It read: “Yesterday, Sunday 15th of December was the saddest say of my life ..

“My mother Mae who was an incredible beautiful woman , wife , mother ,grandmother & friend passed away peacefully surrounded by all her family ..”

He continued: “I’d like to say thank you to everyone for all your well wishes at this time

“To all the fans for all your support & lovely messages Thank you ..

“Her funeral is a very private time for me & my family to grieve & I know you all understand & will respect that .” [sic]

Shane then added: “If you would like to do something in her memory you can make a small donation to Sligo North West Hospice .. who looked after her so beautifully and will continue to do so for so many more families Thank you Love always Shane & Family”. [sic]
