In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot has now revisited its Classic Fusion line, updating its 45mm model with both modern technology and contemporary design.
All measuring a larger 45mm case size, the collection is offered in three different materials: grade five titanium, zirconium-sintered black ceramic, and good old yellow gold. With this reimagined limited edition, the Swiss watchmaker has also taken a minimalist approach, foregoing indices for a completely blank black lacquered dial save a date window at the 3 o’clock position, which is also painted in black to extend the uniform aesthetic. As for its core — interestingly enough — unlike its vintage predecessor, the originally quartz timepiece has actually switched over to being mechanical, carrying the in-house HUB1112 automatic movement which boasts 48 hours of power reserve.
“Hublot has always been a fearless and pioneering brand, and this is no less true in 2020,” it says. “The Brand’s creation of a gold watch on a rubber strap in 1980 broke with conventional codes and laid the foundations for its own vision of Haute Horlogerie. To mark its anniversary, it has reinvented its 1980 Classic Original, an iconic example of its disruptive approach.”
All three makes of the Hublot Classic Fusion 40 Years Anniversary edition is now available over on the brand’s website, with prices ranging from $8,300 USD to $25,200 USD.
Elsewhere in watches, Tudor has revived its 1950 Royal model.
