Incredibly important piece of jewellery the Queen gave to Kate Middleton

This means Kate Middleton ranks very highly and is given certain privileges as such. As an ancient institution, the Royal Family has many hierarchal rules.

This includes the royals entering rooms in order of ascending importance. As such, currently the Queen enters a room last.

Prince Charles enters second to last, preceded by William and his wife.

Another privilege given to certain high ranking members of the Royal Family is access to jewellery.

In particular, this relates to the Queen’s collection of royal jewels containing millions of pounds worth of gems with historic precedence.

Kate has taken advantage of this honour on many occasions.

The Duchess of Cambridge has worn a number of royal jewels either given to the Queen as gifts or left to her.

This includes her wedding tiara, a Cartier scroll tiara.

It also includes the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, which Kate was worn to events such as state dinners.

While a royal employee is in charge of loaning out gems to other royals, the Queen approves when each important item is loaned out.

Besides tiaras, other less famous items of jewellery still imbued with significance to the Crown and the Queen herself have been loaned out to Kate.

Kate has worn the Diamond Quatrefoil Bracelet on a number of occasions.

The huge glittering diamond bracelet has emotional significance for Her Majesty as it belonged to the Queen Mother.

The Queen Mother wore the piece as of 1958, although it is not known if the bracelet was a gift to her or a piece she bought or commissioned for herself.

However, as the Queen wore the piece for the opening of Parliament in 2010, we can assume she views it as an important and sentimental piece.

This is not the only valuable and sentimental piece of jewellery Kate has worn, in fact, far from it.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been given a number of pieces of jewellery Prince William inherited from his mother Princess Diana.

In fact, Kate has inherited the bulk of Diana’s personal jewellery, her pieces being worth four times what Meghan Markle’s jewellery from her mother-in-law’s collection are.

The most important item from this collection is probably Kate Middleton’s engagement ring, once Diana’s.

Kate’s blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring was worth £28,000 when it was first bought by Princess Diana following her engagement to Charles in 1981.

The stunning piece is estimated to have increased tenfold in value since then and is currently valued at around £300,000.

She also owns Princess Diana’s sapphire earrings, worth £150,000.

These earrings are part of a stunning suite of jewels given to by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
