Pantone Color Institute, the company’s trend forecasting and color consultancy, has unveiled its bi-annual report listing the top 10 colors people can expect to see on the Spring/Summer 2021 runways of London Fashion Week. Pantone has also offered five tones which it calls Core Classics that can be easily paired with any of the 10.
Pantone noted in a press release that the colors unveiled are a series of “floral hues reflective of gardens in springtime.” The company emphasized that the palettes mirror the need for people to “immerse themselves into a world characterized by colors that reflect hope and optimism,” especially during these “indeterminate times.” Tones like Pickled Pepper, described as “mildly sweet and pleasantly tangy;” and Beach Glass, “a watery aqua tumbled smooth by the waves and currents,” demonstrate the hopeful sentiment. Other hues, Pirouette, Purple Rose, Orange Ochre, Marigold, Indigo Bunting, Lava Falls, Illuminating and Beach Atoll, round off the vibrant array. The Core Classics, which are mostly monochromatic and understated, Baby’s Breath, Macchiato, Polar Night, Ultimate Gray and Sphagnum, complete the range, “fus[ing] a spirit of lightheartedness with functionality and flexibility.”
