A dermatologist has offered his take on the skincare trends that are most overrated, including coffee scrubs and CBD oil.
Dr Shah, from the US, posted a series of videos to his TikTok page, showing why those who want clear skin shouldn’t fall for fads.
In a series of three clips, the dermatologist explained some facial sprays have ‘no benefits, just harmful ingredients’ and that people should also avoid pore vacuums and witch hazel toners.

The doctor also said that ordinary peeling solution is ‘actually great, but not for beginners’ and is ‘best if added to consistent skincare routine’.
In one clip, Dr Shah added that jade rollers, an ancient Chinese medicine which has been used for generations to decrease puffiness and increase circulation wasn’t harmful, but also doesn’t work.
He said that CBD oil, a trendy relaxant that comes from the Cannabis plant, overpromises results as ‘not enough research has been done’ and that coffee face scrubs and ginger pore masks are damaging to the skin.
The doctor also said that hydrocortisone shouldn’t be used by acne sufferers.
Dr Shah, who is married to another doctor, has racked up more than 672,000 videos and five million likes for his informative content on TikTok.
