When Kate Middleton arrived at the Natural History Museum to make a special appearance on Monday, we were floored by her stunning appearance.

The Duchess of Cambridge chose an ensemble that was different to her usual style, which no doubt surprised many fans.

The 38 year old opted for a tailored blazer and matching trousers, from British brand Alexander McQueen.

The puff-shoulder statement blazer cost £1240, and is now sold out. She kept things simple elsewhere in the outfit with a black t-shirt and pearl earrings so that her power suit do the talking.

The mum of three wore her hair in her signature waves, and kept her makeup natural.

Her sister-in-law Meghan Markle is also a fan of the blazer, and perhaps this has inspired Kate to also give them a go.

The Duchess of Sussex has pulled out blazers for a number of occasions. She wore a similar black one shortly after announcing her engagement to the Duke of Sussex to the 2018 Endeavour Awards, and even a blazer dress to a Hamilton performance in London.

No matter what Kate’s influence was, the one thing that can be agreed on is that she looked incredible.

The event was held so that Kate, who is patron of the London museum, could reveal that she would be announcing the winner of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

As part of her speech she said: “The skill and creativity of this year's images provide a moving and fascinating insight into the beauty and vulnerability of life on our planet. Thank you to all those who entered for showing us the magic of the natural world, and for reminding us that caring for our environment and its precious biodiversity has never been more important.”

Kate, who is known for being a keen photographer herself, continued: "I’ve been lucky enough to have a quick preview and I can say it’s truly spectacular. I can’t wait for you all to see it.” The competition was won by Sergey Gorshkov for his photo ‘The Embrace’, and the image was shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram.

Kate previously admitted she loves to take her children Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, to the museum.

During a speech in 2017, she said: "Like many of you here tonight, I remember visiting the Natural History Museum as a child, and being inspired with a love of nature.

"And now, as a parent myself, I am experiencing the joy all over again with my own children, who adore coming here, and it is not just to see the T-Rex, mind you."
