Woman who had handbag snatched in club returns home to find Range Rover stolen

A woman had her £20,000 Range Rover stolen after a car thief allegedly took her hand bag as she danced with friends.

CCTV footage shows the suspect pull up in a taxi outside a house in Bury during the early hours of Saturday morning, MEN reports .

One woman – dressed in heels and a black dress – can be seen getting out of the vehicle and walking towards a white Range Rover parked nearby.

A group of around four or five women are seen in the back of the taxi while eating takeaway food.

The woman gets into the Range Rover for a few minutes and then returns to the taxi to get a friend.

The two of them get into the vehicle while the taxi drives off with the rest of the women inside.

Shortly after, the woman in the Range Rover reverses out before driving away from the scene.

Louisa Stevens, 41, said she noticed her handbag was missing after she hung it up on a peg near to where she was dancing in Propaganda in Bury town centre.

Bouncers in the club tried to assist her after she reported it missing but the bag could not be found.

It was later located near a chicken shop in Derby, but the contents of the bag, including her car and house keys, were missing.

Louisa returned home using her spare key but was shocked to find her Range Rover – which was bought two years ago for £22,750 – was missing.

Later the next day it dawned on her that the car had been stolen after examining CCTV footage from outside her home.

Louisa's address appears to have been located using her driver's licence which was inside her stolen purse.

She said: "I came back from my holiday and met up with a few friends. A short night turned into a long night.

"We went into Bury and had a bit of a dance. I had my day handbag with me, I don't normally go out with my car keys.

"I contacted police when I got home. Then I noticed my car was missing.

"I watched the CCTV footage next morning. It was four or five girls. It is just one that gets in the car and drives off."

She added: "When I watched the footage I felt really numb. It only hit me yesterday, it was delayed shock. I have not been sleeping."

Police have since recovered the car which was found dumped outside a garage in nearby Radcliffe.

Louisa says she is releasing the footage in a bid to track down the suspected thief.

She also said she faces losing her no claims bonus unless the woman is found.

The woman in the video is believed to be in her late 20s or early 30s and is between 5ft 6 to 5ft 9 with long blonde hair.

Louisa, a student beautician, also left her suitcase in the back containing an important assignment she is keen to retrieve.

She told the M.E.N: "I don't think I know them. I think it is a big group of them, maybe they have dared her to do it."

GMP have confirmed a theft has been reported and is being investigated.
