Mason Greenwood dedicated his goal in Manchester United's win over Brighton to now-former team-mate Angel Gomes.
The 18-year-old opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the first half of his side's 3-0 win at the Amex after dazzling Lewis Dunk with two stepovers before drilling home.
And the striker celebrated his sixth Premier League goal of the season by making an 'A' sign with his fingers – a tribute to fellow teenager Gomes, 19, whose United contract expired on Tuesday.
Greenwood posted a picture of the pose on Twitter to confirm it was meant for his Old Trafford academy pal, captioning it: “A promise is a promise.”
Gomes then took to social media to express his gratitude by uploading a snap of the forward celebrating in an Instagram story.
He wrote: “No words, I love you bro. Special, special player, thanks for the dedicated goal.”
GET IT 'DON
Jadon Sancho has reportedly been told to decide his future before the start of next season amid interest from Manchester United.
The German transfer window is open until October but Borussia Dortmund have told the England ace they will not sell him once next season has started.
ancho has been continually linked with United for months and Dortmund want it sorted in the off-season, according to German outlet WAZ.
The Bundesliga giants recently revealed they would only sell the 20-year-old for £117million.
But United are reportedly only willing to pay £50m.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently laughed when asked to rate United's chances of signing the England international.
CLOSE THE GAP NOW
Gary Neville has given his opinion on United's season while out for a sweaty morning run.
The former Old Trafford defender said: “There's no doubt that a year ago there was a massive worry about the club's direction, where it was going.
“There's a huge improvement, the club has been sanitised from a point of view of players who were just coming for money.
“When you look at the ones out on the pitch, theres a mixture of ones who weren't working who are now working because they're surrounded by better players.
“Young players who are desperate to play for the club and some players who have got great ability have realigned their commitment over the last few months and are certainly in a better frame of mind.
“However, now is the time to go for it, get those three or four players who are needed, close that gap now when the rest are maybe not reinvesting and get closer to that title.”
