Odell Beckham Jr. trade still a possibility for Browns

Odell Beckham Jr. could still be on the trading block for the Browns.

In spite of a bounce-back performance on Thursday night against the Bengals, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported on Friday that a trade is not “off the table” for the former Giants receiver.

“The reality in Cleveland, right now I can tell you that during the offseason there were definitely serious conversations in the organization about perhaps look at the option of trading Odell Beckham, Jr.,” Russini said on ESPN’s “Get Up.”

“But he is not one of those players in this league that is untradeable. Will the Cleveland Browns always be willing to listen to offers from other teams if they’re interested? Yes. This is not something that has been taken off the table, despite the fact that we saw a performance last night with him and Baker Mayfield, I think could be absolutely magical if they could continue this throughout the season.”

The new rumors were initially floated this week by former New York radio personality Mike Francesa on Twitter who wrote, “I hear Browns, who are clueless, looking to trade Odell.”

The rumor was shot down by reporter Benjamin Allbright.

Beckham, 27, has been a member of the Browns since he was traded from New York ahead of the 2019 season. The honeymoon period with the team was short, however, and the 2014 first-round pick allegedly yelled, “Come get me” to opposing teams last season out of frustration with the offense and former head coach Freddie Kitchens.

Beckham recorded one of his worst seasons to date last year with 74 receptions for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns.

Rumors sprouted up once again during free agency this year when multiple members of the media reported the Browns had been actively shopping Beckham.

“During the offseason there were definitely serious conversations in the organization about perhaps looking at the option of trading Odell Beckham Jr.,” Russini added.

The star wideout opened the season with just 22 yards in the Browns’ blowout loss to the Ravens, but bounced back on Thursday night with four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.

The Browns (1-1) are slated to face the Giants (0-1) at home in Week 12 on Dec. 20.
