Bradley Walsh fronts the BBC reboot of Blankety Blank which will air on Christmas Day. Guests will be welcomed on to the show to win huge prizes with the help of celebrity guests, including Amir Khan, Jimmy Carr, Anita Rani and Emilia Fox. Before Bradley even got past the first round, he struggled with the clues, slipping up with the words.

Turning to the first guest, Susie Blower, Bradley tried to kick off the show but he didn’t have much luck.

Bradley asked: “Susie, would you like A or B? Remember of corse, some of the questions will be harder than others.”

“B for Blower please,” Susie replied leaving Bradley stunned: “I beg your pardon.”

Susie repeated she would like B and the presenter presented to read out the clue.

“Last Christmas, I ate so much turkey that it started to have a funny side effect,” he began.

“Now every time I go, I start to blank.”

Susie looked shocked by the clue as Bradley exclaimed: “Oh no, hang on, I’ve misread that.”

Jimmy jumped in to ask: “Every time you start to go? What was in that turkey? It’s gone right through you Bradley.”

“I misread it,” the host insisted as the audience burst out laughing at his slip-up.

Jimmy continued: “You know what, I don’t mind that you misread it, it’s just lovely to see someone your age on TV at this time of year.

“You had one job, you had one job to do.”

“Jimmy don’t! I misread it. Jimmy, don’t, shut up!” Bradley snapped as he tried to move on with the show.

Fans will have to tune in on Christmas Day to find out how the rest of the show goes and if Bradley has any more slip ups.

Meanwhile, reflecting on her experience on Blankety Blank, Anita told Radio Times: “I loved watching it as a kid, proper family entertainment.

“Although I’d forgotten the rules. Doh! I loved every second of it.”

She added it was the “most fun I’ve had in 2020” was a “treat to film”.

Bradley is taking over as host of Blankety Blank which was originally hosted by Terry Wogan and then Les Dawson.

Speaking about taking over as presenter, Bradley said he didn’t feel the pressure to live up to his predecessors.

“It’s just the fact that I love bit of nostalgic telly and to follow in the footsteps of Sir Terry Wogan and one of my heroes Les Dawson, having worked on the show as a studio warm-up for Les a few times, it’s a thrill for me,” he explained.

He added of the celebrities involved: “I’m really looking forward to working with them all again, I’ve worked with them all before but I’m really looking forward to working with the contestants, that’s what I like. I like working with the contestants – it’s great.”

Blankety Blank airs Christmas Day on BBC One at 7pm.
