Coronation Street fans are having to wait a few more months before Geoff Metcalfe (payed by Ian Bartholomew) is delivered comeuppance and Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) walks a free and innocent woman. The soap is set to mark their 60th anniversary with a very dramatic storyline and some have been speculating as to which characters will be involved. Many viewers are hoping they will see the master manipulator taken down, once and for all, putting an end to the coercive control storyline which has been playing out on ITV screens for two years.
In recent scenes, Geoff’s control has been slowly slipping away as more and more Weatherfield residents believe the truth.
But there is one person, Geoff is determined to keep brainwashing; his son, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine).
However, with Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) for a cynical questioning wife, Tim is eventually realising just who his father really is.
And he could be involved in a big whodunnit storyline later this autumn.
The ITV soap recently announced a gaping crater will appear in the street as part of its gripping offering in a few months.
The sinkhole, a large hole in the ground former when the land collapses away, will cause havoc for several residents.
The location of said sinkhole is going to be in the Platt’s back garden – and who’s house it next door? Geoff and Yasmeens.
And fans think Geoff will be the one to “accidentally” fall (pushed) into the gaping hole.
“The sinkhole would be good but maybe somewhere else? Geoff has been killed in a major who dunnit storyline, the body is buried but a sinkhole appears where the body has been buried,” one wrote online.
Another said: “Who killed Geoff Metcalfe storyline for the anniversary episode.”
“Do Geoff murder at Halloween and reveal it during the 60th anniversary live episode (if they were planning of doing one),” a tweet read.
It wouldn’t be surprising if the major showdown happened next to the sinkhole and Geoff just so happened to fall into it…

The soap are keeping tight-lipped as to how Geoff is going to exit – dead or alive.
As for what is going to happen in the next couple of weeks, Yasmeen is still recovering in hospital after her heart attack.
Therefore, the trial was put on hold until she is well enough to stand.
Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) is going to be a witness for Yasmeen, and Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) was also meant to appear.
Viewers recently found out she was the ex of Geoff.
But all of a sudden, following a tense conversation with Geoff, Elaine went missing.
Many thought she was killed, but there is a strong chance she will reappear just in time for Yasmeen to send Geoff down.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
