Kate (played by Faye Brookes) has had a tough 12 months on Coronation Street following the heartbreaking death of her betrothed Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia).
The Rovers Return barmaid has had some tumultuous storylines on the ITV soap, but viewers finally got to see her experience some happiness with her fiancee Rana on the cobbles.
Sadly the dramatic and devastating Underworld Factory roof collapse earlier this year changed everything for the star-crossed couple.
Rana was caught in the collapse and died after being crushed in the rubble, and was even wearing her white wedding dress during her final scenes.
Luckily Kate got to her soon-to-be wife just in time and the pair shared a poignant goodbye, but the surviving character has struggled to move on ever since.
With Carla Connor’s (Alison King) mental struggles to put all of her energies into, Kate has had a focus since Rana’s death, and has done all she can to help her older sister.
Unfortunately the siblings’ relationship ended up fractured as the Connors continued to battle their individual struggles, putting them at odds for a time.
Viewers were delighted with the news Carla and Kate would eventually reconcile just before Kate’s time in Weatherfield came to an end, and it seems all of Kate’s loose ends will be tied up before she heads away from the cobbles.
Coronation Street then released an image of emotional scenes taking place in the middle of Kate’s place of work – the Rovers Return.
Clutching a bouquet of flowers, the beloved bartender could be seen sharing a poignant hug with her employer Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley).

Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been doing in Weatherfield!
Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) also stood in the background looking on at the younger woman with pride.
While it isn’t exactly clear whether the image showcases a scene from the soap or simply actress Faye’s last goodbyes with some of her co-stars, it appears having the moment with just Johnny and Jenny could hint it is one of her final moments of filming.
The soap captioned the image, along with two others of fellow Weatherfield characters: “What have you been up to this week? Here’s a little peek at what we’ve been doing in Weatherfield! #SaturdaySneakPeeks #BehindTheScenes #Corrie.”
When Faye originally announced she would be departing her role on the soap, the star admitted it was time to move on.
“Thanks to everyone for your amazing support,” she wrote on her Twitter page. “But after four fabulous years in Weatherfield, it’s time for me to explore new opportunities.
“I’ve loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I’m off to pastures new.”
Kate’s final scenes will take place on-screen in the autumn, and is sure to be a bittersweet ending for the character after her rocky year.
Confirming the character can return in the future, a Coronation Street representative assured Digital Spy Kate will definitely “not be killed off”.
“We don’t ever discuss future storylines but Kate Connor will not be killed off,” they said. “And the door will be open for her to return.”
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
