Emmerdale fans devastated as Vanessa dumps Charity as ‘Red’ identity is exposed

In tonight's Emmerdale , Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) ended her relationship with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) after discovering the truth about the casino scam.

Viewers already knew that Charity had been involved after Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) told the rest of the family about how she got a stack of cash – though she didn't reveal that her helper "Red" was Charity.

Vanessa discovered the truth and made sure to tell some of the other Dingles, leaving them furious with Charity – and leaving Charity single.

Soap fans were left devastated as yet another of their favourite Emmerdale couples were torn apart, joining Cain and Moira, and Aaron and Robert on the newly single pile.

One said: "Why would the writers destroy the best relationship the Dales has ever had?"

Another tweeted: "Vanessa dumps Charity so that's Coira over, Robron over, now Vanity. Emmerdale hates 'ships."

A third wrote: "Vanessa knew the kinda person Charity was before they even got together so she can't really be all that shocked now to find out just what she's been up to all these months behind her back can she?"

Someone else pleaded: "The end of Vanity but not for ever right?"

And a fifth added: "I'm crying. I'm broken. Vanity have split… I'm a mess."

Vanessa ended the romance in the Woolpack, despite Charity pleading for forgiveness.

Charity said: "I shouldn't have lied to you. It won't happen again."

But Vanessa told her: "No it won't, because I'm sick of it."

She added: "I'm not a mug. I am not putting up with it. I don't want to live like this, and this might come as a massive shock to you Charity, but you're not the only one who can make decisions.

"It's over. We're done."
