Emmerdale spoilers: Cain Dingle quizzed by police as Joe Tate murder guilt continue to haunt him

As viewers of the ITV soap know the Dales hardman believes he killed his daughter Debbie’s boyfriend after punching him, causing Joe to hit his head on a rock.

But Joe was still alive and it was actually his right-hand man Graham Foster who had the grisly task of finishing Joe off.

And Cain – played by Jeff Hordley – will find himself having a bit of a wobble when PC Swirling arrives at Butlers Farm with some questions for him.

Fortunately for Cain it’s got nothing to do with Joe but comes after step-son Matty Barton gets brutally attacked at a New Year’s Eve party.

When Matty comes home battered and bloody and reveals he’s been attacked by a group of local lads, Cain decides to get revenge on Matty’s behalf.

But when he confronts Isaac – the lad who attacked Matty – he is plagued by memories of hitting Joe and ends up freezing in his tracks.

Isaac and the gang of violent thugs take the opportunity to jump a frightened Cain leaving him beaten and broken.

He heads home the next day and tells a shocked Moira what happened. He also tells her they can’t go to the police about the attacks as he doesn’t think he’ll be able to cope with questioning and could end up revealing what he did to Joe.

They’re both shocked when PC Swirling arrives after having been called by an oblivious Matty. Will Cain be able to keep it together?
