Frankie Boyle sparks feud with Ricky Gervais as he slams Afterlife star for 'lazy' stand-up gags about trans people

FRANKIE Boyle has ripped into fellow comic Ricky Gervais and accused him of being "lazy" with his jokes about trans people.

The outspoken 48-year-old Scot sparked a feud with the Afterlife star when he tore into his stand-up routine in an interview with Louis Theroux.

Speaking on Grounded With Louis Theroux, Frankie said:  “If you’re a stand-up watching him, you feel like, ‘oh, that’s someone doing a version of what we do'.

“But really, it’s that I saw him doing his routine about trans people and I thought it was very lazy.

"I would like him to have the same respect for trans people as he seems to have for animals.

"I don’t think that’s a lot to ask."

He added: “I mean, look, we know Ricky Gervais, he’s a brilliant actor, he’s a brilliant writer, he’s not a f**king stand-up comedian!

"Just ‘cos Ricky Gervais self-identifies as a stand-up comedian, am I supposed to say that he is one? It’s f**king political correctness gone mad!”

Ricky took a swipe at transgender star Caitlyn – known formerly as Bruce Jenner – at the Golden Globe Awards in 2016.

"What a year she’s had,’ Ricky said in his gag.

"She became a role model for trans people everywhere – showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes.

But referencing the fatal crash Caitlyn was involved in in February 2015, Ricky added: "She didn’t do a lot for women drivers.

"But you can’t have everything, can you? Not at the same time.”

Then in Ricky's 2018 Netflix special, Humanity, the 58-year-old repeatedly dead-named the former Olympian.

Meanwhile Frankie has come under fire for his controversial comments in the past.

He famously made a vile joke about Katie Price's disabled son Harvey in 2010 during his stand-up show.

It came after Katie's split from first husband Peter Andre, and her marriage to cagefighter Alex Reid –  and she was furious about the references to her son.

The comic joked: "Jordan and Peter Andre are still fighting each other over custody of Harvey – eventually one of them will lose and have to keep him."

He went on add: "I have a theory about the reason Jordan married a cage fighter – she needed a man strong enough to stop Harvey from f****** her…"
