I’m a Celebrity‘s John Barrowman is officially back in the jungle and being cheekier than ever!
The Doctor Who and Torchwood star had to be rushed from the bush to a nearby hospital over the weekend when he sprained his ankle in camp, making him immune from Sunday’s vote-off.
In Monday’s show, campmates spent much of the early part of the episode anxious about whether John would be medically-cleared to return from the hospital.
Shortly after James and Rita returned from acing yet another disgusting Bushtucker trial, the campmates and the nation were thrilled to see John making his way back into the jungle with help from a cane.
As everyone rushed over to hug him, John joked: “I feel like Hopalong Cassidy.”
The actor gathered everyone round to share the scary experience he went through, as well as to offer an update on his condition.
“I went to the hospital, it’s a bad sprain, the whole side of my left ankle is swollen,” he explained. “There are things I can’t do, I can’t go down stairs but they’ve told me to walk on it as much as I can because the more I can walk on it the better it will get.
“I was hoping that my (wallaby) shank is safe from last night, although I did say I bet the bastards have eaten it!”
John’s trademark cheeky sense of humour carried over into the Bush Telegraph when he made light of having to use a cane in camp for the time being.
“I am back, I am glad to be back, I did not want to go,” he insisted. “I would never have used this as an excuse or an option to leave because I would never give up on something like this.”
The actor then quipped: “My own custom-made cane, it’s beautiful! I love smelling wood!”
Yep, John’s well and truly back! And viewers are thrilled for it:
I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues on Tuesday (December 4) at 9pm on ITV, followed directly after by Extra Camp over on ITV2.
