James Argent to miss Towie reunion show after getting stuck in Spain

JAMES Argent will miss the Towie reunion show after getting stuck in Spain, The Sun Online can reveal.

The reality favourite, 32, jetted to Marbella last month and decided to stay there after quarantine rules were sprung on people heading back into the UK.

Arg first made his name on ITV2 hit Towie alongside best pal Mark Wright in 2010 and bosses invited him back for the 10th anniversary episode despite him being sacked over his cocaine use.

Now he's missed his chance at a return thanks to the new rules stating travellers from Spain need to self-isolate for two weeks upon returning to the UK.

A source exclusively told The Sun Online: "Arg was caught out because he was in Marbella for a gig when the rules changed.

"It made more sense for him to stay out there until the next gig, and he wouldn't have been able to film for Towie anyway because he'd have had to quarantine for two weeks when he got back from Spain. He's really sad to miss filming as he loves the show but will be watching at home."

The Sun Online has contacted Towie for comment.

Arg’s drug binges ended his relationship with co-star Lydia Bright and later, his job on Towie last year.

Then in December he called on his best mate Mark Wright for help.

Arg told The Sun back in May: “I remember ringing up Mark on Boxing Day saying, ‘I’m ready, can you help me?’

“Mark got in contact with the owners of this boot camp in Thailand who agreed that I could travel there on New Year’s Eve.”

Arg says his time at The River in Chiang Mai was the first time he took rehab seriously.

It came as a relief for his pals who feared he would be another high-profile death like Love Island’s Mike Thalassitis and Caroline Flack. He says: “They all thought, ‘It’d be Arg next.’”

Arg said he also binged on booze or food, and thinks he was trying to hide the pain of his break-ups plus anxiety about weight.

Arg, now 18st, added: “One of the main reasons why substance addicts binge, whether it’s drugs, alcohol, or food, it’s to escape feelings and get away from it all.

“I was in so much heartbreak and pain that I just couldn’t bear it, so I started taking drugs, and drinking heavily. I literally waited for any excuse to leave a nightclub early so I could go and do it at home.

“I didn’t do it every single night. I’d do it on a Monday night to the early hours then I’d be f* for the rest of the day, then I’d binge-eat, then I’d sleep it off."

Thank you so much everyone for your support, It’s been overwhelming. I’m so lucky to have family, friends and an amazing girlfriend that truly love & care about me. I’m praying for all the suffering addicts out there today. It’s early stages but I’m proud to say I’m nearly 5 months clean/sober and have lost 5 stone in weight. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS ❤️
