KATE Garraway is taking a break from Good Morning Britain next week to look after her sick husband Derek Draper and help her kids settle into school.
In an emotional sign-off, the 53-year-old presenter thanked viewers and her ITV colleagues for their support during this "challenging" time.
"I'm actually not here next week," Kate revealed.
"I'm taking a little bit of time off to help Billy get sorted for secondary school and Darcey as well to get into school and also – Derek, to look after things on that.
"I just want to say thank you all of you for being absolutely brilliant since I've come back through challenging times.
"To everyone here, all the people on-screen and off-screen, you've been amazing.
"One of the nice things is that everybody talks about ITV and television being a brutal business – but it's not.
"It's a proper family. You've all been amazing."
GMB's weatherman turned anchor, Alex Beresford, replied: "You know we all love you and we all have your back on this show."
Kate came back to present GMB twice a week – four months after Derek fell ill with coronavirus.
Although he has woken from his coma, the political adviser remains with limited consciousness in hospital.
He is still unable to speak, with doctors warning he may stay in his current condition – but there are signs that he can hear.
Touched by her goodbye on this morning's show, one viewer said: "What a wonderful inspiration you are to your children, your husband will be so proud of you. The country has its arms around you at the moment Kate."
Another added: "Good luck Kate, and try and fit in some rest, too!"
