She said: "I'm hoping to see him this week and, well, it was a stable day yesterday.
"I'm learning, Adil, that stable is sometimes good. What we want is up days but a non-down day is something to celebrate as well, but it doesn't necessarily get any easier.
"It's good to know that things are moving forward, trials are being done and other lives can be saved."
Kate's update followed a piece on plasma donations, which she had asked viewers to get behind last week, setting off a spike of 300% more volunteers signing up.
Professor Mike Murphy applauded Kate for speaking out on the campaign for more donations, saying: "As it was said at the beginning of the programme, we had three times more people coming forward after the programme last week.
"I hope we will have many more this week. If you've had coronavirus, please get in touch with us, come forward and donate plasma."

"I'm lucky I've got the chance to wait and he's still with us and lots of people don't have that."
