Sherif, 20, is just one of the seven boys entering the Love Island villa, as this year’s edition of the ITV series begins.
Caroline Flack, 39, will welcome the boys and five single ladies at the beginning of tonight’s programme, with the host leaving the contestants to get acquainted after the first coupling.
After meeting one another, Sherif will take fellow islander Anna Vakili, 28, to one side and reveal he already knows her.
It appears the young chef will be star struck when he walks into the villa and sees Anna, having followed her on Instagram before arriving in the villa.
He just brought it out so casually
Sherif explains his confession to Anna, leaving her completely stunned as she simply responds: “Do you?”
It seems the confession will leave the young chef a little flustered, as he tells Anna away from the others after the coupling: “Genuinely. I wasn’t going to say out there!”
When Anna later speaks about the revelation in the beach hut, the pharmacist tells the camera: “He just brought it out so casually.
“Like ‘Yeah I follow you on Instagram’. I was flattered but I didn’t expect it coming in here, that someone would follow me on Instagram.
“When I do go out, I do tend to get that a lot,” the new islander remarked in response to her following of 87.5k on Instagram, but viewers will have to wait and see if the pair form a greater bond during their time in the villa.
However, Sherif’s confession isn’t the only shocking revelation to unravel on tonight’s first episode of the fifth series.
Following the first coupling, singletons, Yewande Biala, 23, and Michael Griffiths, 27, dip their toes in the pool as they get to know each other a little better.
As the pair get acquainted, Yewande tells firefighter Michael about her life outside the villa, revealing: “I’m a scientist. A biologist.”
“I studied a bio-technology degree,” the islander continues, with Michael going on to tell her they have something in common.
“That’s quite interesting because I did bio medical science at uni,’ Michael explains, much to Yewande’s shock.
“Did you? That’s class!” the scientist exclaims, so could this connection mean the young singletons are destined to be together?
Although the show is yet to begin, Love Island fans have been flocking to the bookies to back the cast members they believe will triumph this year.
The current fan favourites are catering company owner Joe Garratt, 22, and flight attendant Amy Hart, 27.
With viewers yet to see which contestants will couple up, Joe and Amy are both currently being backed at 3-1 in Coral bookmakers latest odds, to win the show in six weeks time.
Speaking of the punters favourites, Coral spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “The temperatures in the UK have been hotting up but it’s about to get a lot more heated over in the Love Island villa. It’s back on our screens and this time it’s Joe Garrett and Amy Hart that are our favourites to go all the way and win the show.
“Last year we had Dani Dyer as the favourite from the off and she fully justified those odds. Amy will be hoping to follow in her footsteps this summer.”
As the islanders get to know each other, host Caroline has revealed the contestants won’t know about one particular secret about the villa this year.
Love Island 2019 starts tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
