The wait for Luther series five has felt like an agonising one at times, but the BBC are on hand to make all your gritty crime dreams come true.
The broadcaster has now revealed that not only will we not have to wait that long for the first episode of the new series, but we’ll also be getting new episodes daily for almost a week!
That’s right, Idris Elba will be back on our screens as the damaged DCI on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 9pm, with the four-part series playing out on screens nightly until the series finale on Friday, January 4.
The series is said to bring “something new” to the table, as well as forcing our hero to confront his past. Furthermore, Cold Feet‘s Hermione Norris is joining the cast, while Ruth Wilson’s Alice has been confirmed to be returning.
In fact, Wilson has teased that there have been talks of her character getting her own spin-off, while Elba himself has said that this series is “not the end” for his character either.
The BBC’s Christmas schedule for this year also features classic shows like Doctor Who and Strictly Come Dancing, as well as new versions of Watership Down, Les Misérables and an adaptation of the children’s book Zog.
