'Masked Singer' Fans Are *Convinced* the Snow Owls Are Julianne and Derek Hough

The Masked Singer’s Season 4 premiere introduced us to its most alarming creation yet: twin Snow Owls that are clearly the result of some sort of botched science experiment. Truly, HOO are they? HOOMST?!

These nightmarish avian creations caused quite a ~flutter~ among the judges, who, as usual, had no idea what they were talking about. Like, here’s Jenny McCarthy postulating that the Snow Owls are Donny and Marie Osmond even though Donny was literally already on this show:

Fortunately, Masked Singer fans (and I use this term loosely) have cracked this case wide open with some pretty solid theories about which celebrities are lurking inside our frightening feathered friends.

The Clue Package(s)

So far we’ve gotten one clue package about the Snow Owls, revealing the following not-that-helpful hints:

The Theories

Julianne and Derek Hough

These two definitely seem the most likely: they’re a brother-sister duo who have worked together in the past, and fans are quick to point out that they had a Christmas special on NBC called Holidays with the Houghs in which they danced to “Let It Snow.” There’s also one more compelling piece of evidence in their favor, but we’ll get to that in a moment…

Chip and Joanna Gaines

These two are married (read: not siblings), but some of the clues still make sense. Specifically that reference to “Magnolia,” which happens to be the name of their company.

Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black

There’s some speculation that the owls could be country music couple Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black because a) They have a Christmas album together, and b) Their daughter’s name is Pearl. Plus, some people are convinced it’s them based on their vocals in this alarming performance:

HOWEVER! Pivoting back to Julianne and Derek for a sec, fans discovered that they performed this exact song in 2014 and it sounds pretty similar, just saying:
