Spider-Man 3 theory: Daredevil will be Peter Parker’s lawyer after identity twist

Tom Holland reveals he has received the Spider-Man 3 script

Spider-Man found himself in a bit of a bind at the end of the most recent film, Far From Home. The final moments of the Marvel movie saw Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) getting his secret identity outed by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), and potentially ruining his life. Since then, the fate of the superhero has been left unknown, as now his foes will know the identity of him, as well as his loved ones. Since the film’s release a number of rumours have circulated online suggesting the upcoming Spider-Man 3 will be a Spider-Verse movie – incorporating the Spider-Men from previous films, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Since then, further rumours have been exposed that Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Fox), and perhaps even Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) will be joining the film.

But the latest rumours that have circulated about the upcoming film suggest the former Netflix character Daredevil will be making an appearance.

Daredevil recently made a live-action appearance in the show of the same name, which enjoyed three wondrous seasons, starring Charlie Cox as the titular warrior.

Daredevil was later cancelled, however, leaving a massive cliffhanger at the end of Matt Murdock’s journey.

No confirmation has yet been received regarding Daredevil’s inclusion in the film series, however a new theory from CBR suggests he could arrive to help Peter Parker out greatly.

Fans will recall that Daredevil’s secret identity, Matt Murdock, is a lawyer, who regularly fights for the “little guy” throughout Hell’s Kitchen, Brooklyn, and – you guessed it – Queens.

With Parker being charged with the “murder” of Mysterio, he is certainly going to need a lawyer before he begins his Spider-Verse hijinks.

Daredevil’s lawyering abilities have been utilised a lot over the course of the comic book series’ history, as well as Spider-Man and Daredevil’s team-ups – so this is an extremely likely scenario.

Again, nothing has been officially confirmed about the new film just yet, but with the perpetual rumours from multiple sources constantly finding their way out, things are looking likely.

Electro star Jamie Foxx was recently asked about his return to the series, and if it was true.

The Ray actor confirmed he couldn’t talk about it, but was keen to give a hint.

He replied: “You’re absolutely right, I can’t speak on it.”

Foxx then gave a smile to the camera, and added: “But if I’m in it, I’ll be so happy.”

The actor’s comments follow his apparent accidental announcement which he posted on his Instagram account.

The 53-year-old revealed a concept image of three Spider-Men taking on one huge Electro.

He captioned the image: “Tell Spidey let’s run it back!… super excited to part of the new Marvel Spider-Man new instalment.”

Foxx went on: “Can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent bad**s!!!” (sic)

Creating a live-action Spider-Verse could have some severe effects on the ongoing franchise.

For example, it could fold Sony’s Venom franchise into the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, collating all of its series in one.

Spider-Man 3 is due for release on December 17, 2021 in cinemas.
