Kim Tate (Claire King) will get quite the shock in Emmerdale when she returns to discover that son Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) has become something of a villain in her absence.
Since the icon’s departure, Jamie has has descended further down the path of no return.
The young man was introduced as a kind and caring person, but he’s resorted to some pretty extreme methods over the past couple of months in order to gets what he wants.
Speaking about the character’s newfound villainy, actress Claire King — who plays Kim — told The Sun: ‘I think he got most of my lines. But it’s great for him. I think he’s quite pleased he’s got the lines.
‘He’s embracing his inner Tate and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, let’s face it.’
Given that Jamie rebelled against Kim’s villainous ways for decades, the matriarch will no doubt be shocked when she returns to discover her son following in her footsteps.
Claire continued: ‘It will be quite scary for her.
‘She could manipulate him when he was softer. And she does like to manipulate people, she pokes bears a lot to get reactions.
‘It’s to judge people, to see how they will react and how strong they are going to be in standing up to her – whether she can trample over them, manipulate them or whether they’ll be an adversary like Cain for example.
‘It will be a bit of a shock for her to discover that Jamie’s got this tougher side to him.’
As Claire mentioned, Kim was able to control Jamie, but with his villainous side having come to the forefront, she may no longer be able to do so.
Therefore, one can’t help but wonder if Kim will set out to take him down and end his reign of terror, so that she can reclaim her crown as the village’s most dangerous Tate?
Emmerdale continues Thursday October 1 at 7pm and 8pm on ITV.
