Coronation Street favourite Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) will face a fight for her life later this year when she stands trial accused of the attempted murder of her abusive ex Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew).
Yasmeen is currently residing in prison and recently admitted to Alya (Sair Khan) that she would rather stay locked up than be released while Geoff is at large as she feels safer behind bar.
But judgement day is coming – for both Yasmeen and Geoff, who has many criminal secrets to hide – as they face one another in court this December.
As Yasmeen stands up to Geoff and finally comes clean in public about what her monstrous husband put her through, will the tables turn on Geoff and will justice be done?
Coronation Street recently announced that the trial would take place during the week of the show’s 60th anniversary, bringing the long running story arc to a dramatic close.
A spokesperson said: ‘For months the nation has been gripped by the appalling abuse inflicted by Geoff Metcalfe upon his wife Yasmeen. With Yasmeen on remand charged with Geoff’s attempted murder, the anniversary week will see the end of her trial.
‘Will justice be done or is the nightmare only just beginning for Yasmeen and Alya?’
Geoff will no doubt have some tricks up his sleeve but could missing Elaine (Paula Wilcox) be the key to Yasmeen’s acquittal?
