Strictly 2020: Nicola Adams spotted for first time since leaving show

Nicola Adams has been seen for the first time since she had to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing 2020 when her partner Katya Jones caught coronavirus.

The boxer, 38, was seen doing a different kind of boxing as she took piles of cardboard boxes to the bin after self-isolating in her home.

Olympian Nicola was seen carrying a large Nike cardboard box piled up with other boxes and rubbish as she left her home on Tuesday, separating them out for the bin.

Nicola hasn’t been spotted since having to quit Strictly after her dance partner Katya, 31, came down with coronavirus.

The pair were told to quarantine for two weeks following the diagnosis, but both have now been spotted out and about after the isolation period had elapsed.

Nicola had confirmed on Strictly’s spin-off show, It Takes Two, last week that although she was no longer competing in the show, she and Katya would be back to perform on the show.

She told Zoe Ball: ‘I’m doing okay, thanks. It was a little bit frustrating not being able to continue and I’d just got back into the swing of things.

‘I was enjoying the dancing and everything but the rules are in place to keep everybody safe so I’m doing my part.’

She added that the partnership would reunite for one last dance: ‘Me and Katya will be coming back!’

Nicola also said that Katya had been helping her out through the isolation period in their separate homes, adding: ‘Katya has been such an amazing dance partner, I can’t thank her enough. I definitely feel like I’ve got a friend for life.

‘We’ve been keeping in touch, making TikToks and doing FaceTimes, everything, so we’ve been helping each other out.’

Katya had tested positive for coronavirus during one of the routine tests for the show, despite not displaying any symptoms.

As part of the safety precautions for the show, the celebrities and their professional dancing partners are considered as one ‘bubble’ therefore Nicola was not able to carry on with another partner instead.

Strictly Come Dancing continues from 7.15pm on Saturday on BBC One.
