Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas has encouraged viewers of the show to vote for their favourite couple after Alex Scott’s exit was met with backlash on Sunday.
Alex and her partner Neil Jones were eliminated from the competition after facing Chris Ramsay in the dreaded dance-off, but judges Motse Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli were divided over who to send home.
Eventually, Shirley had the final say and opted to save Chris, with fans demanding that they should have the final say on who stays.
Shirley addressed how difficult her decision was as she appearing on sister show It Takes Two alongside Motse, and began: ‘First of all, they [Alex and Chris] were both great and it was an immensely difficult decision.
‘I know Motse had one [couple] one minute and then she changed it and then she went back, that’s how close it was in the end.’
She continued: ‘This week again will be a very tough week to send somebody home.
‘From here on in, it’s just difficult. And with the public of course, the votes will help to save your favourites.’
Meanwhile, Motse added that she finds coming to a decision about who to vote off incredibly challenging.
‘Well I have to be honest, it’s the most difficult thing for me ever,’ she said. ‘The thing is, I feel like no we’re getting close to the final everyone putting in all that work and I don’t want to tell another person they’re not good enough.
‘I just get so emotional about it. It’s tough for me, but it’s part of the game and they all know it.’
Rather them than us, right?
It Takes Two continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two and Strictly Come Dancing continues at 7pm on Saturday.
