Who's in the McDonald & Dodds ITV cast?

MCDONALD And Dodds are the latest crime fighting duo coming to ITV.

So who is in the lineup for McDonald And Dodds?

Here we take a look at the characters gracing the streets of Bath:

Jason Watkins as DS Dodds

Jason, 53, has played a Prime Minister in The Crown and been chopped up in Line Of Duty.

But the murder victim has now turned detective in the role of DS Dodds – a quiet, unassuming character who has been thrust into the limelight along with ambitious new partner DCI McDonald.

Jason began his TV career in EastEnders in 1987 as Gerry Fairweather.

His exit from the show saw him punched in the face by Angie Watts.

He won a Leading Actor Bafta in 2015 for The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies.

He also starred as Emlyn Hooson in A Very English Scandal.

Jason, who is married to jewellery designer Clara Francis, has campaigned for greater awareness of sepsis after their two year old daughter Maude died in 2011.

Tala Gouveia as DCI McDonald

Tala, like her co-star, has also been in EastEnders.

She featured in four episodes as Nurse Green.

She went on to star in Scream Street, played Gemma Murphy in Cold Feet, and voiced Tala in Go Jetters.

Tala plays McDonald who is looking to move through the ranks after being transferred from South London.

She told the NottinghamshireLive: "DCI McDonald is very assertive and makes decisions very quickly (sometimes they're right, sometimes not so right)."

Pearl Chanda as DC Laura Simpson

Pearl plays DC Simpson, one of DCI McDonald's team in Bath.

The actress has starred in movies Mr Turner and The Two Gentlemen Of Verona as well as TV parts in Holby City, Endeavour and Arthur & George.

Pearl played Debbie Louise in 2017's Motherland.

Jack Riddiford as DC Darren Craig

Jack had parts in Dunkirk, Journey's End, and Murder On The Orient Express in 2017.

He went on to play Jago Martin in Poldark in 2018 before appearing as Billy Pendrick in Doc Martin.

He was also cast as Shadwell in Daniel Radcliffe film Guns Akimbo.

Jack is part of the police force supporting McDonald And Dodds.

James Murray as Chief Superintendent Houseman

James plays the boss who is gunning for plodder Dodds. He wants his subordinate to take early retirement.

James started out his telly career in Shoestring before landing the part of Sandy Hunter for four episodes of Corrie.

He went on to play Dr Danny Barton in Always And Everyone, and Glen in 20 Things To Do Before You're 30.

He's also had parts in Cutting It, Primeval, Cucumber and Suspects.

The actor suffered personal tragedy after his eight-month old daughter Ella-Jayne with actress wife Sarah Parish died of a heart defect.

Who is guest starring in McDonald And Dodds?

Robert Lindsay as Max Crockett

Robert, 70, plays multi-millionaire and father of three Max, who is one of the elite in Bath, in the first episode.

A homeless man is found shot dead at one of his properties.

Award-winning Robert won a Best Actor Bafta for G.B.H in 1992.

He came to recognition in 1977 playing Wolfie in Citizen Smith, that always ended with him shouting Power to the People.

Robert played Ben Harper in My Family alongside Zoe Wanamaker from 2000-2011.

Jack Ashton as Jack Valentine

The Call The Midwife favourite is embroiled in a murder-mystery in the opening episode.

Ashton, played Reverend Tom Hereward in the BBC drama and has also popped up in Endeavour, Broadchurch and Holby City.

Jack is married to Max Crockett's second daughter, Tamara, in McDonald And Dodds.

In real-life the actor is dating Call The Midwife actress Helen George.

Cassie Bradley plays Kasha Perry

Kasha is the wife of Max Crockett's youngest daughter, Elenora.

Kasha has a traveller background and works in a bakery with her wife.

Actress Cassie's first major role was in Casualty in 2018 playing Leigh-Anne Carr.

She went on to play Mary Magdalene in Jesus: His Life, before joining Coronation Street as Natalie Watkins in 2019.

Freddie Fox as drug addict Miles

He's part of an acting dynasty, with father Edward Fox (Day Of The Jackal), mum Joanna David (Pride and Prejudice) and sister Emilia – who stars in Silent Witness.

His cousins are actors Laurence, Jack and Lydia Fox.

Freddie, 30, may be a familiar face to viewers as he took on the central role of Jeremy Bamber in White House Farm in January 2020.

Freddie plays Miles in episode two.
