Bronx mom accused of slashing kids’ throats has history of child abuse

The Bronx mom who allegedly slit her children’s throats — before turning herself in to cops covered in their blood — previously had one of those kids taken away by the city only to have custody restored, The Post has learned.

Shanice Martin, 24, allegedly used a razor slice the necks of her 2-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son on April 27 and then left them alone on the sidewalk “profusely bleeding” from their injuries, court records show. Two cops rushed them to the hospital, where doctors were able to save their lives, according to court records.

But that wasn’t the first time Martin was caught abusing her kids.

In 2014, she lost custody of the 6-year-old son she nearly killed because of neglect, law enforcement sources said.

The little boy was kept away from her for at least two years before he was returned to her care in 2016 by the ACS.

The agency would only say Friday that the children are currently in their care and receiving medical treatment.

Martin is being held without bail at the Elmhurst Hospital Prison Ward. She is facing a slew of charges, including attempted murder, endangering the welfare of a child and assault.

Her family told The Post in the past she suffers from a serious psychiatric condition and is not herself when she doesn’t take her medication.
