This is the heart-stopping moment a young child narrowly avoided being hit by a car after dashing across a busy road.

Dashcam footage from taxi driver Benchaa Abdallah, 35, captured the close call at Park Lane in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

A man is seen with two children, roughly 15 metres away from a pedestrian crossing, attempting to get to the other side of the road between bustling traffic.

The man dashes between two lanes of traffic and only notices the oncoming car at the last second.

One of the children, who was holding his hand, was dragged back out of the way of the car in time but the other continues to run ahead.

When the man realises he tries to pull the second child back to no avail and the child carries on running.

The car was forced to stop abruptly and the child managed to get to the other side of the road unscathed.

The man and the other child then cross over the road to catch up with the first while the man puts his hand up in a gesture of thanks to the car which almost hit the child

Mr Abdallah later uploaded the video to Facebook with the caption: ‘Close call’.

He believes it was the adult’s fault for not being more vigilant with the kids.

He said: ‘It’s the adult’s fault for letting the kids cross in between the cars.

‘The adult wasn’t paying attention to the kids, and the kid was too fast to cross before the adult did anything.

‘He should have used a pedestrian crossing.’
