The Good Place star lashed out in the midst of the heart-felt tributes to the Chanel designer and said that she agreed he was talented but not "the best person".
Taking to Twitter she wrote: "I'm glad somebody said it. Even if it is a little too soon. A ruthless, fat-phobic misogynist shouldn't be posted all over the internet as a saint gone-too-soon. Talented for sure, but not the best person."
Jameela, who also works as a presenter, model and activist retweeted an article that was practically Lagerfeld's anti-eulogy – highlighting the fashion royalty's blunders over the years.
German designer Karl was known for his eccentric character and his black suits, shock of white hair and black shades. He was best known for his role as the creative director of one of the biggest brands in the world – Chanel.
If you don't want your pants pulled about, don't be a model!
However, the fashion designer, who was born in 1933 had been known to offend people with his comments.
As well as calling Adele "a little too fat", he slammed the #MeToo movement and said models who complain about being groped should join a nunnery.
In an interview with fashion rag Numero he said: "What shocks me most of all are the starlets who have taken 20 years to remember what happened.
"A girl complained he tried to pull her pants down and he is instantly excommunicated from a profession that up until then had venerated him.
"It's unbelievable. If you don't what your pants pulled about, don't become a model!
"Join a nunnery, there'll always be a place for you in the convent."
Jameela's explosive statement divided followers and fashion fans.
One twitter user wrote: "Are you some kind of moral police? Who are you to judge someone?
HAVE SOME RESPECT
"If you don't like someone, keep it to yourself. Stop recruiting people to hate too."
Another said: "I have no interest in fashion really. But what gives Jameela Jamil the right to say if an old man who only died today was a good person or not??
"Are you judge jury and executioner?
"Show a little respect."
"Sorry but bashing someone who just died is downright cruel. You should know better."
Model Cara Delevingne, who worked with Lagerfelt wrote: "I wish I had been able to tell you how much you meant to me. I love you Karl Lagerfeld all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart."
She also wrote: "Every time I try and write about this man, all i do is cry. He changed my life, he believed in me when so many others didn’t including myself. He also introduced me to some of the most important and special people in my life."
No one is perfect but you clearly don’t know the man so please keep your opinions to yourself and stop bashing people for attention
Taking to Karl's defence, Cara accused Jameela of "attention seeking", she wrote: "You are calling him ruthless??? Are you kidding me? No one is perfect but you clearly don’t know the man so please keep your opinions to yourself and stop bashing people for attention."
She had many people who agreed with her, one woman wrote: "No such thing as too soon for truth, Jameela."
Another said: "YES!! I've been thinking this all damn day. Thank you."
And – "I think KL was the one spreading the negativity, you know, when he called Adele fat and said models should expect to be groped. It's actually not that hard to understand."
"He was an islamaphobe and said groping women was fun and if they didn’t like it than it’s their fault for becoming a model. He deserves the criticism"
"Someone had to say it."
