A mother-of-seven has died from cancer one month after visiting a doctor with a ‘chest infection’ following the birth of her youngest child.

Samantha King, 42, was told she had advanced lung and breast cancer after she was given scans when antibiotics failed to clear a ‘chest infection’ just two weeks after she delivered Lilah.

The former nurse from Tredworth, Gloucester, was given weeks to live after she discovered the disease had spread to her lymph nodes, blood, bones and spine.

Following the diagnosis, Samantha and her partner of 11 years, Craig, moved forward their wedding day and walked down the aisle on October 3.

30-year-old Christine Phelps, Samantha’s sister, told the Mirror: ‘It is all so raw and really does not seem real. I keep waiting for her to call.

‘I saw the children this morning and they hugged me tight and said they love me.’

She added: ‘Sam said to the children, that no matter where she is in the world, she will always be watching over them through the good and the bad.’

Kyra, along with older brother Nathan, 26, are Samantha’s children from a previous relationship while she shared five children, Libby 10, Lacey, nine, Logan, five, Lexi, two, and Lilah, with Craig.

Her eldest daughter previously revealed that her mother decided to stop life insurance on the family home two years ago, meaning the family have to continue to find a way to pay the mortgage after Samantha’s death.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Samantha’s daughter, Kyra, to help raise funds towards the cost of the mortgage.

Tammy Locke, the page’s beneficiary, wrote on Wednesday: ’14th August 2020 was the first day Sam felt poorly and went to the hospital… eight weeks later 13th October 2020 at 22.22pm she couldn’t fight no more.

‘It is with great heartache and sadness we say “until we meet again sammy”.

‘Samantha was a much loved wife, mummy, nanny, sister, daughter, auntie and friend and she will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Mrs Samantha Jane King.’
