Police charge ‘relative’, 28, with murder after a woman in her 40s was stabbed to death at a home in north London

  • A 28-year-old man in charged after being arrested on suspicion of murder

  • Paramedics found her with stab wounds inside a house in Enfield at 7.23pm 

A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman was found stabbed to death at a house in north London.

Criston Preddie, of Enfield, will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court today, police said.

The victim, who was in her 40s, was found injured in Enfield after emergency services were called at 7.23pm on Saturday. 

A short time later the woman was pronounced dead. The man, who is thought to be her relation, was charged with murder last night.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and found a woman in her 40s suffering stab injuries. 

‘She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Police added that it was ‘understood that the deceased and the arrested man were related to each other’.

The death is the 115th person to be killed in the UK’s capital so far this year.

It comes just four days after a man in his 20s who was stabbed to death during a fight in West London on Wednesday, September 25, became the 114th victim. 

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a fight close to Ealing Common shortly after 6pm and discovered the man suffering from stab injuries.

Members of the London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance also attended, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.48pm. 

A man was arrested on suspicion of affray and was taken to a west London police station where inquiries are ongoing.
