My nose has been dotted with blackheads and my cheeks have been filled with large, open pores for at least the past decade. After years of cystic acne as a teen, my skin is still recovering, and I’ll try pretty much anything that will promise to help.
The latest product in my skincare arsenal is TikTok-famous Neogen Pore Mousse ($28, Amazon). Reviewers swear by the mousse-like product from South Korea for its ability to tighten pores and clear the skin of blackheads in a way that’s quick, effective, and even fun.

It’s fun to use.
From pressing some of the cloud-soft mousse in to my hands to rubbing it in to my face, taking some hilarious selfies, and then wiping the black gunk of my face, the whole process of using this mask is way more fun than any traditional face mask. The fact that you don’t have to leave it on for longer than a minute or two is a great bonus, too.
It really cleared out my pores.
I thought that the black pilling and gunk you see coming off peoples’ skin in TikTok videos was just a gimmick—there was no way that I actually had a whole handful of junk sitting in my pores. Well, turns out I did.
While my blackheads looked the same, my pores really were cleaner and my skin looked more firm because of it.
While clean pores are exciting enough as is, I more so appreciated that the peel left my skin feeling super soft. When I used this in the daytime, it made my makeup go on smoother than ever. If I used it as part of my nighttime routine, my skincare felt like it penetrated more deeply and effectively, so I ended up waking up in the morning with glowier skin.
It was a bit harsh on my dry skin.
I have dry skin, so I’m wary of peels that can irritate it and leave it flaky. While this didn’t leave my skin flaking, it did leave it with a squeaky clean feeling. If you have dry skin and like that feeling, this product is definitely for you. I personally don’t like feeling that my skin has been stripped of oils, so I have to overcompensate with thick creams and oils after using this.
If you have oily skin, this could potentially be a holy grail product for you—especially in the summer time. TikTok was definitely right about it being a pore vacuum. For less than $30, it’s definitely worth the hype if your pores are craving that squeaky clean feeling.
