Natalie Portman stars in Christian Dior’s second installment of the “Dior Stands with Women” film series, which was just released in honor of International Women’s Day. Portman is featured in the initiative–created with Dior muse Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach Program–alongside a star-studded lineup, including Yara Shahidi and figure skater Yuna Kim.
“I’m so proud to be part of Dior’s campaign that will support Charlize’s incredible organization that promotes girls’ education,” Portman tells BAZAAR.com.
“I believe that the best way for me to continue the conversation around women’s equality is to keep listening. There are so many women’s voices we have yet to hear. We need to keep opening possibilities to have girls and women share their experiences and ideas. Then we need to listen and amplify those voices.”
The first series, which debuted in September of last year, featured stars like Paloma Elsesser, Cara Delevingne, and Leyna Bloom.
In the series, Portman shares why she fights for female equality, highlighting her efforts like working with the WE foundation to create schools for girls in developing nations or A New Way of Life, which helps women from prison reenter the world.
“It’s been incredible working on all of these different projects that have a common goal but very different approaches to reaching it,” she explains in the video. “I wish for the next generation of women that there’s fewer expectations put on them and that they can just pursue their inner selves.”
While Portman has dedicated part of her life to helping women be their real selves, she extends the same philosophy to herself. “Do what makes you feel best in your own skin,” she says. “I feel most confident and powerful when I’m with the people I love who accept me exactly how I am. Then I can be my truest self.”
Her other confidence secret? A bold red lip. “I love red lipstick and the Rouge Dior 999 is always a good companion of mine,” Portman adds. “I can wear just lipstick with nothing else and feel great.”
