Huw Edwards, 60, has admitted he’s been left lamenting at the “absolute state” of some people after they responded to his tweet. The BBC News presenter had shared how he had Covid last night, explaining the reason for his absence from screens.
This morning, Huw shared an update with his followers after being confused about the responses.
The broadcaster posted a picture of him looking at his dog Mot as he explained the situation.
He penned: “A tête-à-tête with Mot about some of the weird responses to my Covid tweet.
“The absolute state of some people.
“If you know nothing about science it might be wiser to trust experts all over the world who agree that vaccines reduce the risk of serious illness.”
He then finished his tweet with a thumbs up emoji, a black flag emoji and the hashtag “COVID19”.
This all comes after Huw’s update last night that he had been off work with Covid.
He had admitted he’d been left “feeling rough” as he posted an image of his positive test.
Huw penned: “Been feeling rough but on the mend now.
“Imagine what it could be like without the 3 jabs for protection.
“Back at work soon. Diolch.”
Following this, many of his 139,000 followers shared their responses.
Many told the news presenter to get well soon in a series of positive messages.
Ann Clwyd penned: “Hope you’re better v soon Huw! I’m one up with 4 jabs! (sic)
“But there’s a lot about still so we can’t be too careful! Cofion Ann.”
Fan @deborah_hilliam added: “You and me both!
“I’ve had covid and shingles together – not nice – as you say thank goodness for vaccinations.
“See you back on the news soon.”
However, others weighed in with their thoughts on Huw’s vaccine comments.
User @dawn15765 wrote: “No jab here, I didn’t even realise I had it, then one day I couldn’t smell my wine, oh right I had Covid.
“I couldn’t smell my wine for three weeks, then I could. End of COVID.”
User @lilyjohnsavage penned: “This logic is utterly mind-boggling.
“If 3 jabs didn’t stop you from getting covid why do you assume the jabs stopped you from getting worse covid that you would have got otherwise?”
