Britney Spears’ former makeup artist has claimed the singer “wants the most normal things” as he opened up about her conservatorship.
The 39 year old pop singer’s former makeup artist, Billy Brasfield, opened up on how he claims Britney feels about her conservatorship in a BBC documentary, titled The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and Conservatorship.
Billy met with journalist Mobeen Azhar, who recently said the Toxic singer’s conservatorship could “be in place for the foreseeable”, to discuss the singer’s wishes.
Speaking in the BBC documentary, which aired on BBC Two on Wednesday 5 May, Billy said: “Britney wants the most normal things. It’s funny because I know what everyone wants to hear is this super complex thing.
“She wants to be able to drive her car when she wants to. In the conservatorship, she doesn’t have that right.”
Documentary presenter Mobeen then asked: “Do you speak about this with Britney’s blessing?”
Makeup artist Billy replied: “Yeah.” And when asked if Britney was aware he was meeting for a conversation for the documentary, Billy explained: “She knows. I let her know when I’m going to do an interview.”
When quizzed if Britney, who recently blasted “hypocritical” documentaries, is simply “unwell” and “needs protection” the friend of Britney’s claimed: “Well, that’s not true. It’s important to point out that there is army of attorneys on the conservatorship side, working against Britney, that her money is paying for. While she has a court appointed attorney, like a hooker on the street.”
Billy added: “Britney is at a place in her life where she has nothing to be ashamed of. She has no problem owning everything that has happened, she’s past that, she’s healing from that. She has nothing to hide.
“We all know that she has stumbled and had some challenges like we all do.”
The makeup artist added that he feels money is the driving force behind Britney’s dad Jamie’s determination to keep her under the conservatorship.
“Certainly there’s a lot of money involved,” he said. “But, I think it’s also as simple as it’s a certain type of personality profile that he has.”

He added: “Britney would just like it if her family didn’t have to be involved and then maybe there could be some healing.”
Billy continued: “I’m just so lucky to know her. Watching her make the best of it, watching her grace and…” he then broke down into tears before adding: “It’s inspiring.”
Britney has been under a conservatorship, overseen by her dad Jamie, since 2008 after she was placed in psychiatric care following her split with Kevin Federline.
The singer has recently appeared to make it clear in recent court hearings that she no longer wants her father to act as her conservator. She is due to appear in court for the first time in the trials deciding the terms of her conservatorship later this year.
