Bruce Willis’ daughter Rumer posts update on hair loss
Rumer Willis, 34, took to Instagram yesterday to share her secret struggle with hair loss in view of her one million followers.
The actress, who is the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, opened up about the sensitive topic months after announcing she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.
“My hair has always been such a huge part of my identity and how I have navigated how I feel about my beauty and confidence,” she wrote in the post caption.
“Dealing with changes and the different realities of how your hair changes with age, pregnancy, damage can be really challenging but it is so important to share openly and connect and remove the stigma.
“I’m proud to be partnering with Nutrafol to Shed the Silence on female hair struggles. Together we’re encouraging women everywhere to share their own stories to help others not feel so alone,” she finished with the hashtag #shedthesilence.
Rumer also spoke more in depth about her own experience of hair thinning in an accompanying video clip.
“Hey guys,” she began. “So as you know, one of my favourite wellness companies Nutrafol that I’ve been using and have been partner with for many, many years has an incredible campaign called ‘Shedding the silence’, which is just a support system and so many things, but really it’s about dismantling the taboos and the shame around hair thinning.
“And it’s something that I feel really passionate about sharing, and I have a couple of times before, but especially right now.
“Obviously I’m in the midst of this huge transition…” she began, falling over her words before adding: “I can’t even talk anymore. That is what happens when you’re pregnant.
“In my life, with my hormones, with my body, with things changing… And as my pregnancy has gone along, I’ve definitely noticed just some changes in my hair,” she continued.

“And obviously, it’s very well known that postpartum hair thinning is a big thing. So, really what’s important to me and what I wanted to bring forward is just this idea of having a lot of grace with yourself, of opening up a dialogue with your friends, with the community that Nutrafol has created.
“Just allowing the space to be wherever you’re at and to bring forward these subjects that generally and historically have been extremely taboo or have been quite shameful as women to talk about.
“A feel like there’s so many things that as women we don’t really share or, God forbid, we are human and have human things occur,” she added.
“I have definitely experienced some hair thinning myself, obviously, as you can see I’ve got these little sproutlets,” she said, gesturing to her hair.
“But I want to open up a dialogue with you, so if anybody wants to share their stories with me or to be courageous and brave and open up that conversation with either of me or the Nutrafol community or with your friends, I highly encourage you to do so in service of just loving yourself exactly as you are and being present with all that you are, no matter what that is.”
Following her candid admission, Rumer was met with support from her various followers in the comments section.
