A masked burglar reportedly broke into David and Victoria Beckham's £40million Holland Park mansion by climbing up their neighbour's scaffolding.
According to MailOnline, Met police have been going through CCTV footage from the property next to the Beckham's house in West London, which has been empty while building work goes on.
The police have also reportedly asked for neighbours to hand over security camera videos in a bid to catch the thief who broke into the home.
"It’s scary to think they were able to get in while the family were inside," a neighbour told the publication. "Police came round asking for security camera footage and mentioned the scaffolding at the house next door.
"It goes the whole way up the building. There are about six platforms with ladders and there are poles that go across to the chimney at the Beckham’s house which is just a couple of feet away."
Meanwhile, a separate source told The Sun: “The scaffolding extends very near to the Beckham’s upstairs bedrooms. It would have been easy for a criminal to climb up and decide to break the glass.”
OK! Online has approached David and Victoria’s representatives for comment.
The celebrity couple, whose son Brooklyn is set to marry in just a few days, were reportedly home with their 10 year old daughter Harper when the incident occurred, and the damage wasn’t discovered until their son Cruz, 17, came in from an evening out with friends.
The room in question was allegedly located upstairs in the property, and was said to have been “ransacked" while the window had been smashed in.
Upon his discovery, Cruz, who recently broke his silence after the incident, alerted David, 46, who proceeded to call the police to report the matter as Victoria, 47, stayed with Harper.
According to The Sun, the burglar had got away with thousands of pounds of designer and electric goods.
In the wake of the ordeal, former footballer David is said to be “shaken up”.
“Sadly the Beckhams were the victims of some fairly professional thieves who have been operating in the area,” a source explained to The Sun. “Fortunately the criminals only made it as far as one bedroom before they ran off.”
Despite the burglary, the source went on to say that the Beckham’s home security is “very good”.
The Beckhams
“The thieves had broken through a window and darted straight back out of the same one with a small number of items. Luckily none had a huge amount of sentimental value to the family,” they added.
